Radiology is a medical speciality and essentially covers the detection of diseases by means of imaging procedures. Imaging procedures include X-rays, computer tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound examinations and other examination methods. In addition to diagnostics, radiological therapy procedures are also used, such as radiation treatment and therapy.

A specialist in radiology is called a radiologist. In order to acquire the title of specialist in radiology, a five-year further training course must be completed in accordance with the requirements of the respective state medical association.

In Germany, more than 400,000 physicians are licensed. Of these, about 9,600 have trained as specialists in radiology/diagnostic radiology and are currently working in this field. With just under 2 percent, radiologists thus form a small medical specialty group. In the last 10 years, the number of radiologists has increased by just under 15% annually. In the current job portals, there are always about 120 vacancies to be filled. So there is a need.
